New Priority Visa Service
The British High Commission in Tanzania announced today a new priority 'fast-track' visa service as an option for Tanzanian customers.
From now on visa applicants will be able pay an additional fee of GBP £ 100 (approximately Tsh 250,000) to 'fast-track' their application and have their visa application processed ahead of others.
The priority service will guarantee the visa application is processed within 5 days, although it is often quicker (unless there are problems with the application in which case we notify the applicants). It does not however mean that an applicant will automatically have their visa issued. The normal immigration rules still apply.
A limited number of priority visas will be available each day on a first come, first served basis.
Broadly speaking the priority visa service will be available for the following UK visa categories:
• Business visas
• Student visas
• Visit visas
Speaking at today's official launch of the Priority Visa service at the British High Commission in Dar es Salaam, British High Commissioner Dianna Melrose said:
"I am delighted to be launching this new priority visa service. Responding to customer demand, through this service, visa applications will be turned around within a maximum of 5 working days. The priority service will help us achieve the objectives of our new UK/Tanzania Prosperity Partnership to increase trade and investment, support Tanzania's development and generate prosperity and employment for both Tanzania and the UK.
Priority visas are intended to help make the process faster for business travellers in particular, as well as for others that may need to make short notice applications. We are doing this in response to feedback from our customers. We know from undertaking a recent pilot of this new service that it is successful and that there is a demand.
Our visa service is flexible and responsive to need. Every individual who applies for a visa is different and we want to make sure that we provide a range of services which meet a wide range of needs. The Priority Visa Service is an important new development allowing customers to move quickly when they have an urgent need to travel."
How to Apply
To apply for a priority visa, applicants must complete and submit a UK visa application online as normal and visit the British High Commission Visa Section. Payment may be made online at the time of application and the receipt for the priority fee submitted with the visa application to the British High Commission. The priority visa service also enables applicants to pay the priority fee at a later date should the application need expediting. This means maximum flexibility for our customers. The amount paid for the priority service, as well as the visa application fee, is not refundable if the visa application is refused or, in exceptional cases, takes longer to process.
All non priority visa applicants are advised to make their applications as early as possible and ensure they have completed their applications fully and submitted all the supporting documents stipulated.
